We had the absolute pleasure of meeting Dean and Daryl from MIWI Welding Institute in Springtown. The guys wanted to give back to a local charity that supports people struggling with addiction and mental health issues. They both had an amazing attitude and enthusiasm to do their bit and give something back to their community – especially young people who are really struggling at the minute.
So, the idea to climb Mount Errigal on St Patricks Day was born. WIMI have produced hoodies and have been getting all their family, friends and work colleagues involved to provide sponsorship or purchase a hoodie all to raises funds for HURT, Have Your Tomorrows.
We have had an increase of 35% of clients come through our door in 2023 – so we are super delighted to be involved and explained to the guys that every single penny they raise will go straight into ensuring those families and young people get the help they need.
And thank you MIWI for creating an event like this that will reach out across this sector, raise awareness, and highlight that support is here is invaluable.
‘HURT does amazing work and is very close to the people of Derry,
It has helped so many families and friends throughout the years.
We want to help remind people that help is there and it’s ok not to be ok but to reach out and get help that’s needed.
Mental health, addiction and suicide is massive in the city and further afield its very close to peoples’ hearts in the city and effects so many people in so many different ways.
Here at MIWI we want to raise awareness and help in any way we can. We are delighted to be involved with such a great cause’.
