Learning from Leaders at Foyle Port
Thank you all from Cathereen, HURT.
As part of our Lead’her’ship Navigators Programme, young people had the opportunity to interview Niamh, Louise, Bill, and Lynette, gaining real insight into leadership, teamwork, and the many different roles that keep Foyle Port moving every day.
Hearing directly from professionals helped bring learning to life and showed that leadership comes in many forms.
The visit also included an up-close experience aboard one of the tugboats, guided by the incredible Foyle Port staff, Danny & Damien. This was a real highlight for the group, offering a hands-on look at safety, responsibility, and collaboration in action.
Also want to say a massive thank you to the year 8 Peace2 students for how you represented yourselves and St Cecilias. You were respectful, engaged, and confident in asking questions and taking part, and you should be very proud of yourselves. A shout out to the 3 peer mentors from 6th Year, Uaneeen, Kayci & , leading by example.
Experiences like this make a lasting impact on young people. Not to forget the three teachers, Mr MC Menamin, guiding with true spirit, it has been so lovely working with you and your class for the past weeks, also Mrs Monaghan and Miss Curry who supported the visit to Foyle Port on Tuesday 16th December. your encouragement & support made a real difference and helped create such a positive experience for everyone involved.
A huge thank you to Niamh, Louise, Bill, Lynette, and the wider Foyle Port team for their time, generosity, and inspiration. Also to Rebecca for your support & expertise.
It was a fantastic day, and everyone working together played a big part in making the visit such a success.
A great collaborative piece of work between St Cecilias college, Foyle port and HURT.
Building future leaders together. ![]()
